You've spent time learning and mastering your skills and are now an expert in your field. Clients come to you to work with YOU! You are committed to serving those clients the best way possible and that means depending on SaaS (Software as a Service). But how do you know the software you are using is the right fit for your business? How do you know that you aren't spending thousands of dollars on software that is actually turning clients away because it doesn't provide a great user experience? Or worse yet, the software you are using is taking up your time leaving you nothing left for your clients.

As a VA turned Online Business Manager I have worked with more SaaS programs than I can count. Some are better than others. And some are lovely and are a great fit for some clients but not for others. For example, I specialize in Simplero, but I can tell you haven't worked for many years in Kajabi. Kajabi can be the ideal SaaS for someone running evergreen programs with constant new enrollment and little client nurturing. It's beautiful and simple and very streamlined. It might be your ideal software, but if you like to nurture client relationships, well it's a bit lacking in its ability to do that. Simplero on the other hand has so many opportunities.

Here are 3 steps to help you identify if the software is a good fit for your business.

1. Identify your Needs

No matter what sort of online business you're starting, you will have specific needs that are unique to your offerings. If you're running webinars you need a webinar program, but if you're selling courses with no live element you don't. The more specific you can be, the better!

2. Evaluate your budget

Once you've narrowed down your needs you can evaluate if the software programs you are using are a good fit in your budget.

For example, if you are hosting masterclasses with an average attendance of 10 clients you can get by with a basic zoom account, but if you have 1000 people a webinar account will serve you better.

Some programs are all-in-one or scale to fit varying needs, all of these details are important in determining if the expense is right for your budget.

3. Try them out

So you think you found a software that has the features you need and fits your budget! You're all set, right? Maybe not. It's important to try out the software. You don't buy clothes without trying them on, don't commit to SaaS without trying it out. Get in there and test the software to see if it is intuitive for you. If you are totally confused or requires you to sign-up for other software to work for you then it might not be a good fit.
